Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is a viral disease of cattle caused by lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV).

That is characterized by fever & multiple firm, deep seated skin nodules.

This is an Erosive disease that leads to  severe production & economic losses.

It is important to note that Lumpy Skin Disease is Classified as a notifiable disease by WOAH due to its financial impact

Lumpy Skin Disease is spread mainly indirectly between animals with the help of flies, mosquitoes, midges and ticks.

 Lumpy Skin Disease is caused by a virus, which means that there is no curative treatment.

Control of LSD must focus on prevention, including vaccination and vector control
