INDICATIONS

Nobilis® RT Inac is indicated for the active immunisation of primed future breeder and layer chickens to prevent mortality and clinical signs induced by infection with Avian Rhinotracheitis virus.

IMMUNITY

The duration of immunity is throughout one laying period. A serological immune response can be measured after 3 weeks.

COMPOSITION

A water-in-oil emulsion vaccine, containing inactivated Avian Rhinotracheitis virus, strain But1#8544, inducing at least 10 log2 ELISA units.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Store between 2 °C and 8 °C in a refrigerator.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Protect from direct sunlight.

WARNINGS

  • Withdrawal period: Do not slaughter chickens for human consumption within 6 weeks after vaccination.
  • Vaccinate healthy chickens only.
  • Not to be used for chickens in lay or within 4 weeks before the onset of laying.
  • Avoid intravenous injection.
  • Accidental self-injection may lead to severe local allergic reaction. Consult a physician informing him/her that the vaccine contains a mineral oil.
  • A mild transient swelling may be observed at the injection site for 2 weeks.
  • KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN, UNINFORMED PERSONS AND ANIMALS.
  • Although this vaccine has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Do not mix Nobilis® RT Inac with any other vaccine and no other vaccine should be administered within 14  days before or after administration of this product.
  • Observe aseptic precautions. Ensure that all vaccination equipment (needles, syringes, etc.) are clean and sterile prior to, and during use.
  • Do not use vaccination equipment which has rubber parts, since the excipient may damage certain types of rubber.
  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and sterile during vaccination.
  • It is good vaccination practice when handling vaccine to avoid contact with the eyes, hands, and clothing.
  • Do not store partially used containers for future use and use the entire contents within 3 hours after opening.
  • Destroy any unused vaccine and dispose of all the empty vaccine containers and disposable equipment after use in accordance with National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (Act No. 59 of 2008).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE – USE ONLY AS DIRECTED

  • Shake well before use and at regular intervals during the vaccination process.
  • Allow the vaccine to gradually reach room temperature (20 °C to 25 °C)   before use.
  • Avoid prolonged, repetitive exposure to high ambient temperatures following withdrawal from the refrigerator prior to use.
  • After removal of the aluminium overseal, the vaccine is ready for use.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

One dose of 0,5 mℓ per chicken by intramuscular injection in the thigh muscle.

RECOMMENDED VACCINATION PROGRAMME

  • A single dose should be administered at approximately 14 to 20 weeks, but not later than 4 weeks before the expected onset of lay.
  • In the event that live vaccines were used to prime chickens against Avian Rhinotracheitis, Nobilis® RT Inac should be given at least 4 weeks after the administration of the live vaccine.

PRESENTATION

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) vials of 250 mℓ (500 doses) and/or 500 mℓ (1 000 doses).

Not all pack sizes may necessarily be marketed.
