MSD Animal Health does their part for the Fire Stricken Free State
With thousands of hectares of essential farming land falling victim to the fires that spread across the Free State in October, many farmers were left homeless and animals killed by the flames or left injured. Game and livestock were displaced as fences were cut to give these animals a chance to escape the flames. As MSD Animal Health holds not only the science of healthier animals close to its heart, but so too the farming community. We were so privileged to have been able to make a contribution of over R50 000 worth of much needed medicines to assist nursing injured animals back to health. We however did not stop there. MSD Animal Health employees wanted to contribute to the cause as well. We decided to join the drive initiated by Afriforum to “pack a box for a farmer”. Two SUV loads of donated boxes from MSD Animal Health staff was collected and delivered to the Afriforum offices on 30 October where we saw the trucks being packed and sent off to the affected areas.
It’s at times like these where we are able to witness the generosity of fellow South Africans which fills us with such joy and most importantly, hope. To the farming community, we wish you the strength to move forward from the devastation that you have suffered these past couple of weeks and may the path to recovery be a smooth one.
